A recent find is a light cavalry sword appearing to be French but made in Solingen, possibly Saxony?
The 32.5 inch double fullered blade has some etchings and a Solingen swirl(rose) on the spine of the blade. Other etchings are stand of arms. Has the typical Solingen etching under the langets. The frip is leather covered with underlying cord to produce the ribs. The hilt is brass without any markings.
I am trying to identify and date this sword.

Hi Will,
I am not sure whether you will be able to attribute this sword to any German state as it seems to be void of any markings that would give a clue. The blade seems to have been made in Solingen and I would guess it was made early in the 19th Century. As Solingen also produced for other countries and as this pattern was popular in many armies it does not even have to be for a German officer.
All the best,
Peter

Hallo Will,
Alles Gute,
Peter

Thanks Peter, it seems I have an ability at finding swords that are difficult to place. Some believe it is post Napoleonic though some details appear earlier and others not necessarily.
