deshalb habe ich nachgefragt. Ausserdem müßte man das Wasser so schnell wie möglich wieder aus dem Leder entfernen, da es sonst die unmittelbare Umgebung zur Oxydation anregt. Hier hätte ich dann Pressluft empfohlen.

Ich muß mich mal mehr mit der Thematik Lederpflege beschäftigen, vor allem um die Mittel, die bei der Verarbeitung Verwendung finden.

ich erinnere mich, der sogenannte "Handgelenksbrecher", so auch beschrieben im deutschsprachigen Buch "Blankwaffen - Ein internationales Brevier", von Gerald Weland (Motorbuch Verlag Stuttgart 1994).
Mich wunderte, warum die Amerikaner mit dieser Waffe nicht klargekommen sind. Aus dem Ursprungsland (Frankreich) kamen anscheinend keine Klagen.

Das Buch hatte ich aber wieder weggegeben, da es für mich keinen Nährwert besaß.

A short summary of the things discussed above:

There are no no markings on the ricasso or any other stamps but downside the grip under the leather "47" and "73" on the throat piece (foto). We think, these are manufacturing-marks. May be there had been some markings on the ricasso, but now the blade is "perfectly" cleaned.

You wrote: "Your sword looks like what we call the M1840 import. A lot of them were not marked and for some reason most were not stamped with US inspector's marks."

Is there any typical sign or design-detail that helps to identify this saber as US-M1840 or did other countries use this saber too?

Ich habe copdoc kurz das Wesentliche des oben Gesagten geschildert.
Er hatte geschrieben: "Dein Säbel sieht aus wie ein Stück, dass wir M1840 Import nennen. Viele von Ihnen waren nicht gestempelt und hatten aus irgendwelchen Gründen auch keine US-Abnahmestempel."
Meine Frage geht nun dahin, ob es bei diesem Stück Merkmale gibt, die es erlauben, es zweifelsfrei als US-Säbel zu identifizieren, oder war dieser Säbel auch in anderen Ländern in Gebrauch?
